CSMB - Legislation Info
_______________________________________________ In an effort to keep all of our members abreast of what is going on in Hartford and what the CSMB is doing, the following Legislative Information page is being created. This page will be updated as needed and will contain the most current Legislative information. _______________________________________________ TO: All CSMB members I am sure that each and every one of you have received notices about the upcoming NAMB legislative conference but, if you haven't I wanted to make sure that you did. Each year NAMB puts on a very informative legislative conference with great speakers and even greater programs and this years conference is not only lining up to be as good as those in the past but, with HR-3915 and Schumer's and Dodd's bills in the hopper this conference WILL be the most important one for our industry that NAMB has ever put together. That's right; it will be one of the most important conferences in our industry's life. We will hopefully be in Washington in force and our voices will be heard like no other time on the hill with all of our legislators from all of our States. The conference is scheduled to begin on Monday, February 4 th and will conclude on Friday, February 8 th . During the conference NAMB will once again be doing its business with Delegate Council meetings, Executive Directors meetings, and general sessions and most importantly on Thursday, February 7 th NAMB will once again host "LOBBY DAY". This is the day that all NAMB members will meet with as many of their representatives in Washington to share with them the concerns that our industry has regarding the proposals to change the way we do business as mortgage brokers. Thursday will be a great day for all of us as we get to meet with either our legislators or their important staffers to discuss the issues and the more people we have talking the talk, the more unified a body we will be. To that point, I am asking that those of you who are planning on attending the conference and will want to visit Connecticut 's Congressman and Senators to please let the CSMB office know and that way we can get our lobbyist in Washington to schedule meetings with them on Thursday. Please remember, the more people we can get in Washington and in front of our representatives the better it will be for us. For more information on the Legislative conference please visit www.namb.org/Legconference We have had issues in our industry in the past but none that could affect our livelihoods and the general consumer in our State as the ones that are being proposed today.
